Algae and Stars
Many years ago I heard a story about how in Fiji sometimes at night, there is algae that glows in the dark floating in the ocean. As the story goes, with this algae glowing one cannot tell where the night sky stars end, and the ocean begins. It creates a surreal type experience where one quite literally feels like they are floating amongst the stars. Sometimes I wonder who the first people were to actually look up at the stars. Watching the cartoon “The Croods” with my kids the other day the scene where they climb to the top of the trees at night to look at the stars was particularly poignant. For those of you unfamiliar the movie is set in cave man times, and the family had survived by NOT embracing anything new, and hiding in a cave. The humorous part about this to me, is that all of us inside have some of the cave man still in us. There is a natural tendency I believe for people to hide out in caves rather than embrace new and exciting challenges in the world. So, what is the point of this meandering little story? If we think about it, or as we like to say if we Think More, we will come to the realization that to live a life among the stars starts first with realizing that reaching the stars is possible. Maybe you will never float amongst the glowing algae in Fiji, but wherever you live you can start imagining the life you dream of. What starts as a dream only needs enough thought and action to make it real. One day before you know it, you won’t be floating in algae, but actually living the life you always dreamed of, amongst the stars so to speak.
